Challenges: Although the project site is relatively flat with few trees, there are a few environmental challenges. The United States Fish and Wildlife Service determined that the entire property is aestivation habitat for the California Tiger Salamander which was listed as an endangered species in 2002. Furthermore, the Army Corps of Engineers determined that 4.37-acres of the property is jurisdictional wetlands of the United States. An Environmental Impact Report was certified in Spring of 2005 and wetland and Salamander mitigation agreements have been established with the appropriate Federal Agencies.
